On 16 June 2025, TT Concrete was pleased to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Civil Contractors New Zealand (CCNZ) Auckland Branch, held at the Ellerslie Events Centre. The event brought together key stakeholders from the civil construction industry, including contractors, government representatives, educational partners, and suppliers, to review the past year’s achievements, address industry-wide challenges, and outline future directions.

As an active concrete supplier in the Auckland region, TT Concrete took this opportunity to deepen its understanding of current industry trends and connect with professionals across the infrastructure and civil engineering sectors.

📊 Financial Overview Reflects Steady Growth

A key highlight of the AGM was the financial review for the year ending 31 March 2025. The Auckland Branch reported a total income of $350,420.05, marking a 4.8% increase compared to the previous year.
Major income sources included:

  • NEOC (National Excavator Operator Competition): $122,980.01
  • Function and Event Income: $108,250.00
  • Sponsorship and Travel Support: $51,197.00

Operating expenses totaled $302,055.13, representing a 2.4% decrease year-on-year. The branch achieved a net surplus of $48,364.92, nearly doubling the previous year’s profit—a strong indicator of both financial health and operational efficiency.

🌱 Industry Focus: Opportunities and Ongoing Challenges

In addition to the financial results, the AGM addressed key strategic issues impacting the civil construction sector:

  • Continued support for SMEs and Young Contractors
  • The slow pace of TTM (Temporary Traffic Management) reform
  • A lack of clear guidance from WorkSafe and MBIE on safety regulations
  • Ongoing recruitment and retention challenges, especially for smaller firms
  • Inconsistent project pipelines and work volume fluctuations

Despite these challenges, there was also a strong sense of momentum, with successful regional initiatives like the REOC and Hynds Awards, as well as increased youth participation and professional development across the industry.

🤝 What TT Concrete Gained

By participating in this year’s AGM, TT Concrete gained valuable insights into current regulatory developments, funding trends, and sector priorities. More importantly, the event provided an excellent platform for connecting with civil contractors, infrastructure consultants, and public sector representatives.

We are proud to contribute to the conversation around sustainable growth in the industry and reaffirm our commitment to supporting initiatives that uplift SMEs, enhance safety practices, and encourage innovation in construction.

Looking ahead, TT Concrete will continue to engage with the CCNZ community, actively support sector collaboration, and work towards building a more resilient and future-ready construction environment in New Zealand.
